Agrifac completes profitable year and reports much hijger order intake, in face of historic economic slowdown

Steenwijk, The Netherlands (January 18, 2010) Agrifac Machinery BV from Steenwijk realized a turn-over of € 15 million and a net profit of € 1 million in 2009. Agrifac Machinery has been taken over one year ago by Peter Millenaar and Ton Verhoeven. "In the face of intense global economic pressure, Agrifac has completed a solid profitable year and improved it’s financial condition," said Peter Millenaar, president and chief executive officer. "All our businesses are benefiting from the consistent execution of plans which we announced immediately after the taking over of Agrifac. Agrifac invested a lot during the first year in Research and Development, people, training, quality improvement and reliability of delivery times.” In addition, Agrifac has made further progress extending its competitive position through investing in further development of the British, German, Polish and Russian market. Agrifac appointed sales and service staff for the German and Polish market and took over the British importer for Agrifac and 5 outlets of Matrix Agritech in Russia.
Company Outlook & Summary
Company equipment sales are projected to be up about 50 % for fiscal 2010 compared with the same periods a year ago. “Agrifac's ability to remain on a sharp growth course in such a difficult environment is a tribute to a committed team of employees, dealers and suppliers in Europe,” according to Verhoeven. "Mainly to their dedication and hard work, our operations have remained on a solid footing and our plans for further market development meeting the world's growing need for food and economical, ecological, ergonomical and efficient machinery are continuing to move forward," he commented. "We remain extremely confident about the company's future, which in our view holds considerable promise for delivering significant value to the dealers, clients, employees and its share holders in the years ahead."
Market expectation and outlook
- Self-propelled and pulled sprayers. Expected growth for 2010 will be approximately 50%. By the end of the year Agrifac will start production of it’s newly designed Condor self-propelled sprayer. Besides the newly designed cabin and outlook, the new Condor features + it’s own GPS system enabling controlling outflow of plant protection & fertilisers per nozzle + fully CAN-bus controlled machine enabling more functions to be build in and less maintenance and increased reliability + larger pressure regulator enabling faster and more stable regulation + new J booms standard from 36 up to 48 meters resulting in lower maintenance costs, increasing reliability, increased stability.
- Sugar beet harvesters. Massive growth is expected for 2010, sharp increase in order intake from the same period last year. This year Agrifac will start to build the new Quatro harvesters. Main features besides the newly designed cabin + combi defoliator for integral and conventional defoliating increasing the workable hours + larger webs and augers for increased capacity + larger bunker 12 tons for increased capacity.
- Potato harvesters. Agrifac will start production of the new Tapir self-propelled harvester for potatoes and bulbs.
